ABOUT DEAR MARTIN

Dear Martin returns with new music September 18, 2026.

The first single out is "I Could Be Loving You"

Dear Martin - still indie and still maintaining the underdog perspective - has

held on to his vision of honest music-making for nearly two decades. His

music - described as "melancholic and stylish" as well as "light, ethereal

electronica", might best be described as simply just pop; pure pop-music

Ailtered through political observations, dreams, and failures.

With the new single "I Could Be Loving You," Dear Martin sounds more like Dear Martin

than ever, and he says: "This is a song that practically wrote itself; the harmonies and the lyrics seemed to fall

into place simultaneously. The lyrics are fragments of experiences and memories that

reference both the past and the present."

The soundscape draws inspiration from classic electro yet feels entirely unique and

slightly of beat: "I decided to keep many of my original demo synths and plugins on the track. Those are

the soundscapes where I feel at home; that’s where I land when I’m sketching out ideas.

It’s about doing exactly what you want and daring to stand by it - putting it out there.”

Dear Martin often works with well-developed demos that are reCined through

collaborations with various producers. This time, he has worked with Tom Goran at

Sonika Studio.

Dear Martin readily admits that he is not only somewhat averse to technology but also

very lazy, adding: "In terms of sound quality, my demos are often a disaster, and I’ll never master studio

engineering in depth. That’s where a good producer comes in—someone who can sift

through ideas and reCine them, like Tom Goran. He is also a multi-instrumentalist and a

fantastic vocal coach, so he has been a tremendous source of support and a driving force

in bringing out what I’m aiming for.

"I Could Be Loving You" is the first single from an upcoming EP titled Conversation

Pieces, scheduled for release in the autumn of 2026.

Dear Martin, the moniker of Gothenburg-born, Stockholm-based Martin Edvardsson, made his

debut in 2007 with the @ive-track EP This is Wrong. Sparkling arpeggios blended with acoustic

drums and guitars garnered attention and earned praise with headlines like "I love you, Dear Martin!"

The record was produced by musical genius Björn Synneby (Paci@ic and L`lle Volante) and

features a unique sound: dense layers of harmonies that are simultaneously minimalist and airy.

In 2009, Dear Martin released the album The Dearest - pure pop escapism heavily

in@luenced by the early British 80s sound. With lyrics touching on low self-esteem,

solidarity, and an unwavering belief in change, the songs serve almost as a manifesto for

underdogs. The lead track was the shimmering "American in Me!"

On February 22, 2022, the single So Much for the World was released. The song was written

with civilization's failures regarding nature, society, and politics in mind. Eerily, the release

date and song title coincided with the day Russia launched its war against Ukraine. So

Much for the World marked a shift toward a more acoustic sound, featuring live bass and

Wurlitzer piano backing Dear Martin’s softest baritone vocals.

Later that same year, Dear Martin released another single, "You Turn the Love On,"

featuring Hampus Lundgren of Hoffmaestro on bass. The single was taken from the EP Out

of the Woods, released later that year. Produced by Ola Holstad, Out of the Woods features

evocative drum loops, personal lyrics and an atmospheric soundscape.

Dear Martin has performed live in Sweden, the UK, and the USA.

Martin Edvardsson is based in Sweden and Spain.
